Australian Host Distribute.IT Transferring Customers to Other Web Hosts Following Hack

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Australian hosting provider DistributeIT (www.distributeit.com.au) has been unsuccessful in bringing back its data hosted on its servers and has begun moving customers to other hosting providers, following last week's attack by hacker group Evil.
The hackers brought DistributeIT down on June 11. At the time, many reports said that hacking group Lulzsec, who launched attacks in the past couple months against the Playstation Network and CIA website, were also behind the hosting provider's attack.
In a statement issued on its support blog on Tuesday, the company provided a detail explaination of the recovery attempt of its customers' 4,800 domains and accounts following the attack.
It wrote that all the information, websites and emails hosted on its Drought, Hurricane, Blizzard and Cyclone servers was determined by experts as being "unrecoverable," leading to the decision to migrate the data to other hosting providers.
Distribute.IT said that while it is making "every effort to continue to gain access to the lost information from those hosting servers, it seems unlikely that any usable data will can be salvaged from these platforms."
The company also "confirmed that not only was the production data erased during the attack, but also key backups, snapshots and other information that would allow [them] to reconstruct these servers from the remaining data."
The blog post then goes on to explain that Distribute.IT is currently working with the affected customers to help them migrate "their hosting and email needs to other hosting providers," and thanks its customers for their patience during the whole ordeal.

"We would like to thank those loyal customers who have stuck by us during this difficult time and elected to have their hosting remain on our servers," writes the spokesperson. "Your thoughts, consideration and kindness will not be easily forgotten. Much soul-searching and thought has gone into taking this course of action, but at this time we cannot see any alternatives for the affected servers... The overall magnitude of the tragedy and the loss of our information and yours is simply incalculable; and we are distressed by the actions of the parties responsible for this reprehensible act."

PRETTY IRONIC STATEMENT IF YOU KNOW THE CORPS
