To answer some of the concerns here:

1) This is not my work but Total_Noob's (and the new game exploit is by Frostegater). What this means among other things is that I don't fully control the release date/time. So making guesses based on the fact that I'm in Japan will probably not help. Total_Noob lives in Europe.
Right now I'm waiting like everybody else :)

2) The Game is apparently not available in Asia. People in this situation might want to create an US or EU account.

3) If you already have Urbanix, no benefit in getting this new game. Same if you are on 1.80 and Have the MH exploit, as a compatible version of the CFW was released for that yesterday.

4) The reason we do the ninja releases this way is twofold:

First, doing it in small batches is an attempt at staying "under the radar" for whatever threshold exists on Sony's systems where they would consider the sales of a given game "suspicious".

Second, by the time the game information starts leaking, the people that "matter" have had the information for days already. I am not really expecting the 12'000 members of my forums to keep their mouth shut for very long, but there's a good 1'000 that I really trust, and these ones got the information quite a while ago.

Now, I'm not saying leaks are ok. As a matter of fact, we analyze every leak that gets reported to us, and if we find out who leaked, they're out for the next release. And if you think you can easily get through the net, in the past we have not hesitated to remove a batch of 500 people from the ninja releases just because one of them leaked. These people might not even realize they are "out", since eventually they do get the Ninja release, but days after other people got it.

It's not a perfect system, but it does work

Welcome! Enjoy your stay!

Few questions:

1. How strict is this mod? Can I still play PSVita games without any "downgrading" or being afraid of getting the Vita bricked by Sony? I would love me some PSP/Emulators but not worth risking it if I'm stuck with them without getting newer Vita titles.

2. How much does this rely on latest firmware? I haven't upgraded yet and don't feel like doing so.

3. It's Mad Blocker Alpha, isn't it?! :P A few people have "leaked" it already so secrecy doesn't help and that those that need it should jump on it before it gets blocked/removed.

Last but not least, what's the PSVita mod/app scene is looking like? Last I checked, this just runs PSP games. I would love some crazy apps for Vita. Hopefully, this is just a stepping stone and not a home of piracy.

There is no report of Sony banning people for using this, so far. This is very sandboxed inside the PSP emulator, so, as soon as you leave the emulator, you are back with a "normal" Vita.
Vita games still run normally on this, as well as your psp games.
Of course Sony will come up with firmware 1.82 soon, which will patch this exploit. At this point you will have to choose between keeping the exploit, or upgrade to be able to play online, access the PSN, and play newer Vita games.

For now this is compatible only with 1.80 and 1.81, but I've seen earlier versions running on 1.67. I know for a fact that this could easily be backported to earlier firmwares.

I've seen other people mentioning Little Big Planet and Tekken 6 :P.
Seriously though, yes, but keep in mind that I haven't tested it myself (something that I emphasized in the release message on my forum but that leakers fail to mention), and that I only have Total_Noob's word for it. Right now I'm waiting like everybody else.

There are ongoing things being done for "better" exploits that would use the Vita hardware rather than the PSP Emulator (google for Yifanlu) , but for now most of the activity is in the psp emulator. I personally like this situation actually: I don't care about piracy one way or the other (I think buying cultural content is a matter of personal responsibility) but I care about the people who come to insult me on my blog every time a new exploit is released by a hacker. At least as long as no Vita piracy is possible per se, I can tell these people they are barking at the wrong tree.
