Topix is a website located in Palo Alto, CA who is majority owned by Gannett (USA Today's parent), McClatchy and Tribune.  Topix allows people to post hate, racism, defamation and cyberbullying, Gossip, Slander, Sexually Abusive Content, Verbally Abusive Content ,Religiously Abusive Content and much much more in their Topix Forums which blend inconspicuously with legitimate news stories.  Topix does not review posts before they are published (other than for profanity) and old posts are never archived.   If you or your child was attacked in a Topix Forum, please complete our confidential victims survey here.

Innocent people have repeatedly reported abuse to TOPIX about harassment, Cyber Bullying, Cyber Stalking,  antisemitism, attacks on personal and business reputations, and other damage over lies, personal attacks and outdated outbursts.  Many have been slandered for years on Topix and have suffered emotional, psychological, and financial harm from lost jobs and destroyed reputations.

Topix posts are harming adults and children right now yet Topix refuses to archive or adequately moderate their site and according to court documents dedicates less than ten humans to moderate over 300,000 forums.   

 Topix claims to be a news site but they neither investigate, author, nor edit news. Web searches on Topix generally bring up local gossip, slander and trash forums.  Topix claims to be a community but their community apparently receives over 1000 complaints a day and is not considered to be a valuable social networking tool by a single mainstream third party that we can locate.  They claim to remove abusive posts within three days but our poll shows that very few requests are honored. Topix tricks search engines into landing on its site, to sell ads for profit some of which goes to GANNETT, TRIBUNE and McClatchy.
