#Anonymous hacks #Telefónica
The Anonymous hacking group has been active in Spain again and on Sunday managed to take down the www.movistar.es site. They also launched an attack on the www.telefonica.com domain although that appears to have been unsuccessful.
Movistar.es was taken down for about half an hour at 5pm – the time it took for the company to put up a mirror site.
Anonymous had announced its intentions earlier in the week, saying they came in protest at the ‘massive sackings’ and ‘censure’ at Telefónica. Telefónica has plans to lay off 6,500 workers in Spain.
This latest attack comes two weeks after the police arrested three people accused of being the administrators of chat rooms where the denial of service attacks were coordinated against the Ministry for Culture, SGAE copyright organisation and the Junta Electoral among others.
