FAQ:

1 - The procedure is simple?
Yes
2 - Is the procedure safe?
yes

Wow, i totally missed this. I just woke up and see the word Kmeaw. Yeah, well for those who haven’t knew yet, Kmeaw has made a CFW (based from Flukes1 tools) that will work on homebrews, backup managers (multiMAN etc) without signing anything on 3.55 compared to Geohot’s CFW. Isn’t that cool? For the most part of it, it’s safe and does not brick your consoles regardless the size of NAND chip inside your PS3. Kmeaw FTW!
Disclaimer: This package is for demonstration use only, or for running your own made software (homebrew). We do noit condone piracy and are not responsible of the small chance you may brick.

Patched PUP md5 after patching: 2be5e87a22bf1e7f48e98fcabd38977b
If you are on Wutangrza+geohot fw, you dont need to flash the new firmware, just install the package, and run it every time the ps3 boots before running apps that need PL3.
Otherwise, it is suggested that you upgrade to 3.55, Upgrade to this patched PUP, then install the lv2.pkg.

This is only until apps are updated to include this patch themselves, as then you wont need to run the patcher on every boot.

For the installation,
NOTE: If you never updated your ps3 via usb drive b4 then see this tutorial BEFORE you do the steps below you need to understand this tutorial..For everyone who knows how to update via usb lets go to step 1..

TUTORIAL: System updates via PC and Usb Storage Device

This guide explains how to manually download PS3 System Software (firmware) Updates on your PC, copy to a USB flash drive, and then copy and install on your PS3. It is also possible to just connect your PS3 to the Internet and let it handle the updating for you.

Prerequisites

You will need a USB flash drive (thumb drive, removable media, storage media, etc) with enough free space to store the system software update file. You will need at least 120MB.
It might be worth noting that updates are not incremental. Each time you download an update file you are getting all the previous updates in the file too. This means that the filesize will grow with each version. :-?

Step 1: Prepare your removable media

  1. Plug your USB drive into your PC
  2. Create a new folder on it called PS3 (must be in capitals)
  3. Inside that PS3 folder, create a new folder called UPDATE (must be in capitals)

Step 2: Download the update file on your PC

  1. You must download the update file  All Downloads
  2. Find the “Download” link
  3. Save the file “PS3UPDAT.PUP” into the UPDATE folder on your USB storage device

Step 3: Copy the file to your PS3

  1. Unplug the flash drive from your PC and plug into any free USB slot on your PS3
  2. Go to the “Settings” XMB menu, choose “System Update”Screenshot
  3. Choose “Update via storage media”Screenshot
  4. The USB drive will be scanned. If you get an error that no update file was found, ensure that the folder structure is correct (Step 1)Screenshot
  5. Select “OK” to copy the update file to the PS3′s hard diskScreenshot
  6. Wait for the file to be copied and the PS3 should reboot automatically (leave the USB drive plugged in during this phase)Screenshot

Step 4: Install the update

  1. When the PS3 has started up again you should be presented with a screen showing the version of the system software ready to install. Press the PS buttonScreenshot
  2. Wait for the “Checking for update data” to completeScreenshot
  3. Accept the user agreementScreenshot
  4. Press X button to confirm the installationScreenshot
  5. The update will be installed and the PS3 should be rebooted!Screenshot

NEED TO SEE IT? heres a video of it in action you can do these same steps on your ps3 right now its all setup to rip both bluray movies and ps3 games to your ps3 drive you can fit another 60 gigs of games in there :)

You can download games and movies from the net using torrent apps and other p2p sources if you like and place them in the DEV_USB0/GAMES/ directory or bluray directory.

but the easier way is
to rent the game ... rip it to internal drive as usual ...
(like described above) then after its in the ps3 drive exit multiman...

Reload Multiman again with a usb hdd in fat32 format attached to your ps3 usb port...

Press Circle it will ask if you want to copy the game from DEV_HDD0/GAMES/ to DEV_USB0/GAMES/
